It is OK to feed your backyard birds!
Help minimize the spread of disease throughout your bird flocks by adhering to a few simple rules:
- Wash your feeders in-between refills
- Use hot soapy water and rinse well
- Then soak for 15 minutes in a 10% bleach to water solution to disinfect the feeder
- Have a spare feeder handy to put up until you have time to properly wash the feeder you just took down.
- If you see any sick birds at your feeders, take all of your feeders down for 2 weeks and clean per instructions above.
